Google Pixel 5 – Game Changer

The official launch event of the Google Pixel 5 is scheduled to take place on September 30th which means the internet is flooding with Pixel 5 stuff. Today we have tons of new information about the handset that wasn’t revealed before and boy Google has upped its design game big time with this handset.

First up here in the Pixel 5 user will get the Chromecast, Voice Remote, and a Nest Audio. It also provides a new look at the Google TV and its user interface. The bezels of Pixel 5 look uniform all around and they actually look thin especially the chin. Maybe it’s the render, the bezels may look bigger in real life but in any case, we gotta admit, Google is getting better when it comes to design.

We mean it’s the same company that designed this a couple of years ago, so good to know a 12-year-old isn’t designing their handset anymore. Google only did one (boring) black shade for its Pixel 4a, but we’d get both green and black with the Pixel 5.

Now, we also have the remaining unknown specs of the Pixel 5 courtesy of Roland Quandt and it paints a pretty confusing picture because Roland says the Pixel 5 will have a premium build material as in the device is made of 100% recycled aluminum. Now, this is confusing because Pixel 5 will also have wireless and reverse wireless charging and we all know wireless charging doesn’t work through metal.

So either this has wireless charging or aluminum build, it can’t have both. If we were to guess it will have wireless charging because it has been leaked multiple times from different sources that it will have wireless charging.

The back is most probably a plastic one. Anyway, Pixel 5 will also be the first Pixel phone to have 4K at 60fps recording capability. Not only that the phone can also do 240fps at 1080.

For reference, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra can do 120fps at 1080. So Google is going to have an upper hand here. As you already know this will come in handy to take those amazing cinematic videos. We mean you can slow the video down in post to make the video look amazing.

Google’s camera is known to be the best when it comes to still photography but they aren’t at there when it comes to video. Hopefully, that changes with the Pixel 5 as it’s going to have specs that will surely rival the competition.

Here are other specs of the handset which include a 6″ 90Hz 1080p display, a 4000mAh battery, 18W of charging, gorilla glass 6, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, a snapdragon 765G, and 5G connectivity.

The price is actually pretty competitive. According to Quandt again, the phone will retail for 629 euros in Europe. The Pixel 4a 5G will be priced at 499 euros. This is no doubt competitive pricing for what the specs it offers but when you compare it what Samsung announced yesterday, the Galaxy S20 FE that offers a Snapdragon 865 and 120Hz display and a flagship-grade camera for $699 in the US, and BestBuy is already offering it for $100 cheaper at $599 so it certainly looks like Google is surely going to have a hard time selling this handset.

Yes, the Google fans will surely go for the Pixel 5 and we really appreciate Google for taking a different approach but if Google can price it at $599 in the United States then things will get really interesting in that segment.

Let’s hope they do. With that said let us know what do you think about this down in the comments and as always stay connected for more updates.
